KINDERGARTEN
NORMAN ROCKWELL
For Norman Rockwell the kindergarten class did a triple self portrait. I recommend doing photos on a separate day or time and gluing the photos in for them in the mirror of the page. You can bring the mirrors into the class so they can look at themselves while they draw. Please do not use this as just a coloring sheet, direct the students to draw them inside the canvas section of the sheet and then the picture of them will go in the mirror. At the end you should have a triple self portrait similar to the famous artist.

Velasquez , the painter for Kings and Queens! I took this opportunity to have fun with the kinder kids and we decorated our own crowns! You can find a few different ways to make a crown online. Below are a few patterns you can try! We used stickers, POMPOMS, jewels and confetti to decorate our crowns while we listened to music from that time period. The kids loved being "crowned" at the end! You'll want to have the crown shapes pre cut and ready before heading into the class for this lesson!

Since the Dugout is the piece of art work that we talk about with Rockwell you could play up the "baseball" theme and create this adorable baseball decoration! Follow the link below to check out instructions. For prep I would consider cutting the big circles to save time!

MORISOT
Morisot liked to play with mixed mediums and TEXTURE. We can do this sweet flower craft and play on that aspect of Morisot's work! Follow the link below to take you to instructions for this activity! The prep time is basically cutting the flower patterns and pieces out, the kiddos do the rest. Simply watercolor the flower and sprinkle the salt on while it's still wet creating this textured look, glue your middle pieces in and WOW! Imagine this on display at the art walk!

A lot of people like to do a craft with a horse for Velasquez and I say, LET'S DO IT!! We have some canvases in the closet and how cute would these be on a canvas!? Also you can encourage the kiddos to paint a back drop too!

TANNER
For Tanner you can make a banjo!!! One that they can actually play!! Good luck getting it out of their hands if you'd like to display them at the art walk!! BUT IT IS SO FUN!! Paper plate, cardboard (or a paint stick) for the handle, buttons if you wish and some rubberbands!! Ask the Art Masterpiece coordinator if you need help obtaining these items. The prep would be assembling the plate to the arm of the banjo. Hot glue would be best for this and you may want to do that ahead of time so the kids can get straight to decorating!!

Sully is a great time to practice doing a self portrait! I would recommend using this page provided for the students to create a self portrait or you can have them create a portrait of a president much like Thomas Sully once did. Use whatever medium you'd like , this could be fun with markers, crayons, pencils or paint!

Constable is a master of landscape!! Pick a season and create a landscape masterpiece with your students! Here we used some canvases , sponges cut into triangles for the trees. We used paint tape to help them find their horizon and removed the tape for them when it was time to paint the second half. The best part we saved for last and we sprayed their art work with a spray bottle of white paint and water to create snow. Some students added a snowman to their scene! Each scene looked similar but very different !! This activity is a directed painting. Recruit some parents to help you this day! The prep is low but the work inside the classroom is plenty!

I've seen this done lots of ways! CREATE A FIRE TRUCK, one much like the inspiration behind Demuth's famous NO.5 painting! You can have the children create a fire truck with paper and glue and have them or you can try to precut shapes if you wish it's all up to you!
Another option is this cute sponge painting!!
Again, if you need help with supplies contact the Art Masterpiece coordinator!
Both of these will take low prep time!!

DEMUTH
This particular Demuth inspired craft makes for a pretty eye catching display at the art walk! Have the kiddos make a pinwheel of color with whatever medium they choose. I believe the one pictured is paint but I also notice pencil, markers, we even have pastels! The kiddos then cut out their favorite number or their age and glued it on top of the colored page.
