VAN GOGH
Who doesn't want to recreate VAN GOGH!? 4TH Graders are totally capable of doing some of these amazing crafts! If you're feeling more inspired by the sunflowers, have the students use pastels or paint to create their own sunflower portraits. Direct them to big a "cool" color background so it's in contrast with the beautiful yellow colors of their sunflower. If you wanted to use paint, feel free to take some of the canvases out of our supply! This is perfect for a canvas project. The picture is done in pastels and they used blending!

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Van Gogh is Starry night!! There are so many different ways you can do this with the students!! Below are a few different ways that you can do Starry night! If you wanted to get creative you can do any of these methods on clay or cardboard too! All of these are low prep ideas too! win , win! Possibilities are ENDLESS with Van Gogh!
Lay down some paint or pastel and scrape the lines in with a fork!
Use the easter egg method! Have students use a white crayon to create the lines and water color over it!
Use liquid glue to create your lines, allow it to dry and then pastel the rest!
DA VINCI
Nothing cracks me up more than seeing what kids can come up with for the Mona Lisa! Give them the print out of her face and see what all they can come up with! You'll be pleasantly surprised! Encourage them to come up with a full page of background space too to really set the scene for ole' Mona! You may want to pre cut the faces so you can just hand them out for the class that will take a little bit of time.

MILLET
Drawing a farm scene is perfect for Millet. You can grab inspiration from the season you're currently in to add more direction! These are one point perspective which means there's a horizon line across the page and you draw the scene looking straight on.

VAN EYCK
Famous for Triptyc (Paintings in three sections) Have the students create their own with this template! Create any scene that they wish and make sure they know that the three scenes should flow together. If you wanted to give them the triptyc already cut out to save time you can as well.

Riggold is known for mixed media with a focus on quilt patterns! Make your own memory quilt. This is created by having textures to place under the paper and then crayon rubbing on top , so you'll want to bring things they can do that with or they can find things around the classroom! The center piece I would cut ahead of time so they can create and then place to save time inside the classroom! Below is a youtube video to show you more!
GAUGUIN
Known for breaking apart with his bright colors and different shapes for people this is the perfect time to inspire the students to create a colorful self portrait. Pictured they used bingo dobbers for the black , but we can use thick black markers!!! Then they had the kids draw with pastel the patterns behind them , however they wanted to color or blend for their faces, and water colored over the rest! I just think these are darling!
